Summary

Resident Evil: Revelations brings the classic survival horror series up to date and into 3D using many aspects of the Nintendo 3DS features.

The game takes place in 2005, and fills the gap in events that occurred between those in Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5. Featuring long-time favourite character Jill Valentine and her new partner called Parker Luciani, the game is set largely onboard an “abandoned” cruise ship in the Mediterranean.

Valentine and Luciani must find another Resident Evil favourite, Chris Redfield, who was last heard of onboard the ship which is, of course, far from empty of the kinds of creatures that no one who isn’t a Resi fan wants to bump into.

Gameplay happens both out of and in the water, where, of course, horrors lurk that are just as scary. Fortunately, gamers can switch in and out of a first-person shooter viewpoint, with traditional Resi third-person on offer to ensure the optimal shooting stance and angle to match enemy attack and location.

Using the 3DS touchscreen, the gamer must solve a variety of puzzles as well as switching between weapons for maximum impact. Enemies must also be analysed for weaknesses, and hidden items must be revealed in order to upgrade weapons and survive.
