Summary

With a generation of gamers and games developers having grown up on Mario Kart and now Sonic Racers, it's a difficult thing to turn out a kart racer that doesn't draft too closely behind on of these two titans of the genre. 3D Clouds has managed it, however, with this bright new take on the genre.

In All-Star Fruit Racing you pick one of 22 characters to speed around tracks at breakneck pace. The theme? Yep, you guessed it - fruit. It pops with bright colours and beautifully realised environments. It's a visual feast that will light up the retinas of the whole family.

What sets it apart from the kart racers that have come before, however, is the power-ups. Instead of grabbing randomised boxes, you're collecting pick-ups to fill up meters for four different fruits. You can let fly with a filled up meter, or combine them to create different attacks such as turning opponents into ice cubes, blasting them with water of firing out tornadoes. In addition to this, each character has an ultimate attach that can be unleashed when all four meters are full if you really want to make trouble for the other racers.

As you'd expect from any self-respecting kart racer, multiplayer mode is present and accounted for, as are a host of different challenges to test your skills!
