Namco tries to deal with financial strife
Namco of Japan is about to post losses for this quarter of $55.7 million and has reduced its earning expectations accordingly.

The company has blamed poor arcade performance and difficulty in moving PlayStation 2 titles for its recent poor performance. Moto GP, Seven and Klonoa 2 were expected to sell 900,000 copies between them. Unfortunately for Namco, combined sales in Japan only amounted to 290,000.

Namco has also been forced to close down 14 arcades in Japan since November and is planning more closures.

Unfortunately no one at Namco was willing to comment on the company’s problems.
