Biblical pedantry: You said that the submarines in Steel Diver are like "behemoths slowly moving through the water".
I think it's worth pointing out that the behemoth was specifically a giant land animal; its aquatic counterpart was the leviathan.
That's probably why it was moving slowly. I always imagined a leviathan would move pretty rapidly, but given its size it appeared to be struggling - much like a 747 appears to fly more slowly than a single prop.
