Summary

Bigfoot is the original monster truck and something of an institution in the good old US of A. The beast was created by Bob Chandler in 1975, who was also the original driver.

In the NES game Bigfoot, you travel from Los Angeles to New York, competing in various types of monster truck races. At every destination, you must drive a qualification round against your opponent, which is in top-down perspective, similar to the Micro Machine games. This gives you an opportunity to win prize money that allows you buy various power-ups that will dramatically increase the performance of your truck. After this qualification process, you are taken to a head to head race viewed side-on, where you have to push left and right continuously on the control pad. There are many different events from the world of monster truck racing to enjoy, including Mud Race, Car Crush and Drag Race. The truck with the most points after the New York meet will be crowned champion.

The graphics in Bigfoot are not that bad for a NES game and every obstacle is clearly depicted. There are hardly any sound effects in the game and the music played is repetitive - better turned off in other words. Controlling Bigfoot is at times fairly difficult and unresponsive, probably just like the real thing. If you're a closet redneck who has an interest in trucks with big wheels, going to the feed store, and watching re-runs of the Dukes of Hazzard, then this'll have you 'yee-hawing' purdy darn soon!
