Summary

In the early ninteties, Ocean Software was famous for its movie conversions. Not famous for trheir quality, but for the quantitiy of characterless platform romps they shovelled out. Lethal Weapon for the NES is one such game. Based on the movie of the same name, starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover as LA cops Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh - or the crazy one and his partner. Riggs is considered so reckless and unpredictable in his law-enforcement methods that he is labelled a 'lethal weapon'.

There are three missions, each of increasing difficulty, that should provide an intense challenge for even the most ardent Shoot' Em Up fan. As either Riggs or Murtaugh, you must take on street gangs, drug dealers and mercenaries in order to get to the bottom of big-time corruption at the very top of the LA Police Department. It won't be easy, and you must decide which character is best suited to each mission.

The controls in Lethal Weapon are very simple, given that the 'A' button shoots/punches and the 'B' button jumps. The graphics are poor even for an 8-Bit machine and it is very difficult to tell the difference between certain sprites. As with other NES titles, the music and sound effects are the worst aspect of the game by a long stretch. Overall, we recommend watching the film, which is a modern classic, but avoiding the NES game like the plague.
