Summary

SCARS is an acronym for Super Computer Animal Racing Simulation, which just about sums up this game. Super! in the style of powerful miniature racing vehicles buzzing around the tracks. Animal, because the racers are modelled on, erm, animals. And it's a Racing Simulation! (stop, it's getting silly now) as the be all and end all is to beat your opponents to the finish line, by fair means or foul. And that means weapons, lots of 'em.

So we have powerful half-beast, half-machine racers in a series of inventive, undulating and retina-scorchingly colourful landscapes, using magnets and missiles to beat each other off. The controls are simple to use, and the weapon power-ups are very effective if used correctly. Great! For a while, anyway. SCARS is, after all, yet another racing game, with a limited range of options. Longevity may be a bit of a problem. However, for a quick speed fix in two-player mode, SCARS is more than adequate
