Summary

Nascar, for the uninitiated, is an American Motorsport in which giant supercharged V8 touring cars are raced around oval tracks. The emphasis is on endurance as oppose to out-and–out racing, due to the nature of the courses. As you will have come to expect from EA, the game is officially licensed by Nascar and features the real teams, cars and drivers such as John Andretti, son of Mario, and Jeff Gordon.

Controlling the cars is a little strange, as you would expect large engined rear-wheel-drive cars to slide from the rear wheels. This is not the case and the cars lose traction at the front. There is no handbrake included in the controls to rectify this. Cornering is managed by braking, thus gaining more traction and this can be done at any point in the corner.

The disk contains 18 tracks from the authentic Nascar world, plus five additional fantasy circuits. EA have also given the computer controlled players a boost in the AI stakes and they really give you a hard time.

The cars are customisable to a degree, with downforce, oversteer and tyre pressure all changeable to suit your driving style. All in all, another fine drive from EA that will please Yanko-phile race fans.
