Summary

As far as good old British entertainment is concerned, the single largest franchise to go global has to be James Bond. Spanning thirty years, there have been nineteen instalments of the charming superhero on the big screen to date. At the same time, he is continuing to infiltrate the video games market with the number of games released approaching the number of Bond films and books. Continuing the tradition is 1997's James Bond 007 on Game Boy, one of the last games to be released on the original black and white system.

After being greeted by the Bond title screen and an odd-sounding, but strangely accurate Bond theme tune, you must first create your player. When beginning an adventure you will be told to keep an eye out for useful objects and speak to anyone you come across. This is very good advice. Many tasks in the game involve Bond searching for key items that will help his progress. The items, however, are very hard to find, forcing you to scan every inch of the playing area. This takes care of the exploratory side of the game, but the combat side is very different. You have just kick and punch to defend yourself with, and the ninja style bad guys cannot be attacked without first being stunned. If you bear this strategy in mind when playing, you shouldn’t have a problem. Bosses pose more of a challenge, but the same rules apply.

Your name’s Bond, James Bond. Get into character and have some fun.
