Summary

The concept of the puzzle game, particularly within the video game industry, is one of the earliest innovations created, almost thirty years ago. From Tetris to Lemmings, the genre has a reputation for producing some of the most addictive, playable games in existence. New for 2000 is the next creation in puzzle game’s timeline, Sheep for PlayStation.

The plot behind Sheep is quite a comical one; it has to be said. In the reality of this particular game, the sheep that exist today were aliens that have forgotten their past in favour of grazing in the rich green pastures of Earth. But now, the technological age of electrified fences and pylons threatens their very existence, and it’s up to the sexy Bo Peep (you) and her K9 friends to return them back to their home planet. Is that outrageous, or what?

While not as visually enhanced as its PC counterpart, this version has everything you could expect from a puzzle game. Similar to the concept of Lemmings, you must use your skills as a shepherd to guide four different breeds of sheep through as many as thirty levels. There will be many hazards along the way, including combine harvesters and evil Hench cows. Choose you difficulty level with care, since saving all sheep in a set level presents a great challenge. Four characters in all are available to be controlled, ranging from human beings with enormous heads, to sheep dogs.

Sheep isn’t a ground braking title, by any means, but it does have an addictive quality that will have you tearing your hair out until you go bald.
