Summary

It might be freezing outside but the adrenaline rush will soon fix that. Life is short, so is winter, you better make the most of it, so let me tell you about Sno-Cross Championship Racing from Crave Entertainment and Ubi Soft. This is a fast-paced racing game featuring high-powered snowmobiles. Rev your engines, keep your nerve and you might make it to finishing line in one piece. Be warned, however, the competition is tough.

The handling and modelling of the snowmobiles is close to real-life, there is a slight delay before the snowmobile swings itself around. When racing flat out and heading towards a tight corner, it is important to take a wide line, turn quickly, and balance the steering with plenty of opposite lock. This is great fun when you get it right. Knowing the tracks and getting lots of practice will help you tumble those lap times.

One of the ‘coolest’ things about Sno-Cross is the artificial intelligence of the computer riders. They actually make mistakes and end up upside down or facing into the wall. This might not sound like a big deal, but it helps you feel that you are racing against real riders. It’s a great feeling being in second on the last lap thinking that you’ve blown it when suddenly you spot the leader being squashed by his snowmobile. Player thinks 'unlucky pal!'.

Sno-Cross is a good game, especially in the two-player mode. There are secret vehicles and tracks to unlock and you can spend your winnings on upgrading your snowmobile. Sno-Cross is slightly tricky to get into, but worth it when you finally do.
