Summary

The World War II flight simulator is rapidly becoming a well populated genre, but only across PC formats. These games have a tendency to be produced on PC platforms due to the sheer number of controls that are needed to make it an accurate game. B17 Flying Fortress is next in the line up of complicated flight games, and it looks amazing.

As the latest instalment in the genre, B17 is the most advanced game in its league to date (2000). As a consequence, the PC specifications for the game are a little excessive, requiring a Pentium 2 at 300Mhz with 128Mb RAM. You have been warned. Once you get past this problem, you must overcome the game’s extensive controls; there are a lot. Once you have finally got to grips with the B17, be it through the tutorials or otherwise, you can get into the game proper without making yourself look like a fool. You can choose from quick missions, or a number of campaigns, making B17 a knowledgeable experience for those not familiar with one of the most well known historical events in the world.

B17 is without a doubt a game targeted towards the hardcore flight simulator fan. While many of you will be discouraged by the complexity of B17, others will relish the challenge.
