Summary

Who’d have thought, eh? Crazy Taxi on a Nintendo machine was unthinkable until a few months ago, but it’s right here, right now, and Nintendo devotees are going to like this a lot. Crazy Taxi was a massive hit in the arcades, and the conversion to GameCube is just as faithful as the Dreamcast and PlayStation 2 versions. So, let’s make some crazy money!

Crazy Taxi is largely about a driver and his/her cab, and how much money they can make by transporting people around the city as quickly as possible. It sounds simple, but when you take into account that you only have a limited time to start with, and the fact that the streets are littered with obstacles, you’ll soon discover the infuriating, addictive heart of Crazy Taxi’s gameplay.

As well as Arcade and Original modes, there’s also a section of the game dubbed Crazy Box. This ‘box’ contains several mini-games to enjoy, such as timed pick-ups, balloon-bursting, and flag-running, all from the comfort of your virtual driving seat.

Rocking and reeling along to The Offspring’s souped-up take on American punk rock, there’s plenty of stuff going on in Crazy Taxi to keep you amused for quite a while. Our tip is to get some friends around the console for some (oxymoron alert!) serious fun. Just make sure that they don’t go home in a Crazy Taxi when you bid them goodnight – you may never see them again!
