Summary

In 1999, a truly great skateboarding game came out for the PlayStation and not only did it introduce extreme sports to the masses (as well as a certain Mr. Hawk), it also created a surge of extreme sports-based video games that continues to grow to this day. One of the latest of these games is from Midway and it's all about BMX.

Officially licensed by Gravity Games, the action sports, music and lifestyle festival, Gravity Games Bike: Street. Vert. Dirt. showcases one of the more popular action sports to hit the Microsoft Xbox. In the game, players choose from various features with 21 unique riders including, amongst others, pro riders such as Dennis McCoy, Fuzzy Hall and Jamie Bestwick - whose signature moves and tricks were motion captured for the game.

Striving for the Gravity Games gold, riders must earn points in ten intense courses; each filled with a diverse array of challenges and obstacles. Players must also perform and master more than 1,400 distinct land and air tricks, including Front Flip, Decade Air, Flare, Bloody Booger, Indian Air, Bar-Spin-Disaster and No Footed Candy Bar. If any of those phrases mean anything to you, then you'll most probably be suitably impressed.

A grand total of nine game modes make up the game, including what has now come to be expected, an assortment of various different two player competitions. Gravity Games Bike is not exactly the most original game concept, but this vast array of modes and options should assure longevity and, knowing Midway, there should also be a fair few secrets to unlock along the way.
