Summary

Targeted at the 6-10 year old market, Lego Football Mania is a wacky, fun and accessible game for the younger player. Where most football games these days place a heavy emphasis on realism and skill, this serves merely as an unpretentious, fun game for kids.

Football Mania offers bright, colourful graphics and fast-paced, arcade-style gameplay with all the fun and creativity for which Lego Company is so well known. Players can customise their own football teams, choosing from standard football players, wild west cowboys, pirates, knights and Martians.

Players can test their skills and challenge the opposition to football matches on unique, action-packed football pitches – play on the deck of a pirate ship, in the middle of the Arctic, in a Wild West corral or even on Mars.

A story mode is included, adding a little depth to the proceedings. In it, players must pit their soccer skills against the zany cast of characters in an attempt to win back the Qualifying Tournament prize, which has been stolen by the Naughty Brickster.

Lego Football Mania is no ISS or FIFA, so is therefore not an advisable purchase for the discerning footie fan. It is, however, ideal for entertaining the kids, with its combination of fun, football and fair play.
