As the GBA continues to amaze with its toned down 3D capabilities, developers and publishers continue to bring classic 128-bit gaming to the handheld. This time its the turn of Simpsons Road Rage from THQ.
Simpsons Road Rage features dozens of characters from the hit TV series, either driving or wandering the streets looking for a ride. The way the game works is by taking your passengers to their destinations within the specified time limit. Doing so will earn you variable amounts of cash. This is easier than it sounds though, since players have to negotiate rush hour traffic. At best, Road Rage is frantic.
Luckily, the game does offer some help, and points you in the general direction your customers wish to travel. Learning how to be good at this game involves mastering the basics of reckless driving. Knowing a shortcut or two will help knock a few precious seconds off the clock.
There are 15 characters and cars to drive with in all, with which you must negotiate four solid game modes, including Mission mode and Head-to-Head mode.
Overall, developer Altrons graphical wizardry adds a fantastic cartoon appearance to the game. The Simpsons-style comedy and character relationships are genuinely amusing, and the gameplay is enjoyable.
