In the original B&W, the land is Eden, and the setting is one of beauty and peace. Eight tribes exist in harmony, working the land, fishing in the sea and building homes and farming animals. The only aspect that is missing and longed for is a God.
You enter the game in a time of distress and perform a miracle for the villagers that makes you the God that they have wanted for so long. You gain the worship of a tribe; you are the most precious thing in their life.
The game consists of varying tasks and challenges. For example; how to deal with thieves taking your tribe's livestock and finding the sick tribesman lost in the woods and healing him. Can you outwit the gambler on the beach? Your decisions will have an affect on your tribe and productivity.
Your moral code is another useful tool as you decide whether to take the time-consuming process of healing the sick or killing them quickly. However, killing is not always the answer and the game is rarely as clear as Black and White.
Creature Isle is an expansion pack, but it doesnt play in the same fashion as the original. For example, the battling of rival Gods is gone.
The story goes a little like this. A group of creatures have lost their Gods and have formed a brotherhood. In order for your character to join the ship, he must first prove himself through a series of initiation ceremonies. The trials can be fun, and include tasks such as bowling, hide and seek with an invisible wolf, or racing.
Completing these trials is the path to gaining acceptance from Mercutio, the giant crocodile founder and guardian of Eve, the only female creature on the isle. You can guess where this is going. Offspring are inevitable, and soon you can be the proud owner of a baby creature, ready for your parental care.
