Summary

Apart from possibly when Pac-Man was first gobbling up the world's small change, or when Space Invaders was first invading pubs, bars and diners on a global scale (and causing such national crises as Japan running out of 100 Yen coins!) it seems that retro gaming has never been so popular. "Gaming's not what it used to be", so many of you cry, as you battle your way through brilliantly recreated 3D worlds, immerse yourselves in highly complex RPG universes, and go head-to-head with someone on the other side of the globe, all courtesy of a small (in most cases) plastic box that sits under your TV. Well, as a proverbial sock in the mouth to all you insatiable and outspoken nostalgics, Midway, creator of countless classic arcade games, has seen fit to remind you exactly what gaming "used to be" with the release of Midway Arcade Treasures.

And a veritable bounty it is indeed, containing over 20 gems of old-school gaming, as well as a wealth of bonus material, all on one handy DVD. In fact, it'd be much easier to simply list the contents, so we'll do just that:

SpyHunter

Defender II

Gauntlet

Joust

Paperboy

Rampage

Marble Madness

Robotron: 2084

Smash TV

Joust 2

Bubbles

RoadBlasters

Blaster

Rampart

Sinistar

Super Sprint

720

Toobin'

KLAX

SPLAT!

Satan's Hollow

Vindicators

As well as all of the above, the disc also features the histories of many of the arcade hits, as well as interviews with creators and developers of the games. So if you're one of the aforementioned retro heads, or if you're one of the new generation, eager to find out for yourself what all the fuss is/was about, then you can't get much more comprehensive a tribute to old-school gaming than this.
