Summary

Firstly, that unusual word in the game title…what does it mean? Let's see…

SPECNAZ is a contraction of 'SPECialnogo NAZnacenie' a phrase used by the Russian army which means 'special assignment'. This tactical FPS revolves around activities in the former Soviet Union and beyond, as a number of secret Russian bases remained on the various continents after the end of the Cold War. These bases were populated by operatives waiting for the one instruction to wipe out the imperialist supremacy with nuclear weapons. After a scare at a Cuban base in Africa, the SPECNAZ team is charged with securing the threat posed by the bad guys. The programme was known as Steel Fist, and the special assignment was simply to return the 'package' to its rightful owner.

Slovakian developer Byte Software's SPECNAZ Project Wolf places the emphasis on eliminating enemies, destroying buildings, retrieving information and recovering cargo in a first-person style.
