Summary

Almost two years on from Resident Evil 4's debut on the GameCube, the critically acclaimed Survival Horror finally makes its way to the PC. The story picks up six years after the events of Raccoon City and the release of the T-Virus. We're now in the present day and Leon S. Kennedy - Raccoon City's rookie cop - is a U.S. Agent with an important (and you'd have to say pretty unfortunate) mission: find the President's abducted daughter. His search takes him to the backwaters of Eastern Europe where he makes the age-old mistake of stopping to ask for directions (seriously, when will people learn?) and gets mauled by the locals who turn out to be not quite human. Kennedy must battle for his life whilst trying to find out who (or what) is plunging his trip into bloody chaos.

A few things have changed for this sequel. For one, you're in a free-roaming environment, rather than a series of fixed-viewpoint scenes. There's also the aim and shoot mechanic, meaning a well-placed shot to the knee will put an enemy on the floor, a shot to the shoulder will spin them around and a bullet to the head will...well, it won't be pretty. Perhaps most excitingly, particularly for the horror fan, is the tasty addition to your arsenal of the shotgun for maximum damage to your enemies' frontal lobes. All in all, Resident Evil 4 for PC is going to be a nightmare of a game…in the best possible way, of course.
