Summary

As of 2008, the demand for casual games that stretch players' grey matter has gone stratospheric. Dr Kawashima's Brain Training has proven a mainstay in the UK Charts for over two years, and games like Ubisoft's My Word Coach have proven popular. Picking up the ball and running with it is Margot's Word Brain.

So... meet Margot! She's the kindly but firm-looking lady on the cover. She's got a range of word games for you to try out aimed at giving you a good time and a mental work-out. Margot's Word Brain consists of six mini-games in all, each designed to push that squishy thing in your head in different directions.

There's Word Link, in which players get an assortment of letters and must find words in sequences of adjacent letters – Boggle on your screen; there's Word Mine, from which players must rescue letters to form words; Word Run – basically a miniaturised version of Scrabble; Word Safe – a riff on Word Link in which the letters are put into a circle; Word Search (no explanation necessary!), and even Hyper Txt, a game aimed at teaching kids better texting skills. Once you've tried the whole lot, you'll want to give Word Brain, in which the games must all be played together, a go.

The game has been designed for not just casual gamers, but also kids. Thanks to the intuitive layout of the title, players of any age or ability should be able to get stuck right in.
