Summary

Based on the blockbuster movie starring Liam Neeson and Rihanna, Battleship uses two distinctly different ways of playing but brings them together to pit the gamer against the alien menace... at sea.

Yes, it's also based on the older paper-and-pencil and then Hasbro board game of the same name.

The gamer takes the role of elite naval demolitions specialist Cole Mathis as he attempts to save civilisation from the alien menace on land and sea in a graphically rich Hawaiian archipelago. Trapped in a communications dead zone, Mathis must command the U.S. Navy fleet in a 'Siege on the Sea,' while simultaneously rallying the troops on land for a terrifying 'War on the Shore.'

The War on the Shore element uses the first-person shooter gameplay familiar to gamers of Call of Duty and Battlefield. Here, however, the gamer must do their utmost in defeating enemies and capturing points on the map.

This entails switching between the battlefield and overview 'Battle Command' map and controlling the fates of aircraft carriers, frigates, cruisers, destroyers, submarines and even the massive USS Missouri Battleship itself.

The sea-based action combines with the naval strategy as the gamer must control those ships across the map grid using the special card pick-ups that are discovered and won during the FPS events. These cards provide control of your ships' gunfire for a few seconds at a time, enabling the gamer to unleash barrages of missile and rocket attacks in order to sink opposing ships. All of this happens in real-time.
