Summary

Xenoblade Chronicles X builds on its predecessor of nearly the same name on the Wii, throwing them onto the world of Mira to create their own character and explore a world no less than five times the size of that in the first game. It's packed with a rich and varied range of thoroughly hostile fauna, so players had better master the game's deeply strategic real-time battle system if they want to stay alive.

During battle, players have a lot of options thanks to a combat system that enables them to switch between classes. They'll be able to change it up between long-range and short-range attacks, as well as issue orders to up to three AI companions. There are also the 'Arts', special abilities that can be used to dispose of enemies, that vary depending on what class you're using.

The game's job system includes roles in eight different divisions. Curators are focused on exploring the vast environments; Harriers allow players to largely spend their time dispatching deadly monsters; Outfitters spend the bulk of their time helping to develop the huge mechas known as Skells, to name a few.

A big new element to the game is the option to take the action online in co-op missions as a party of four. There's also asynchronous multiplayer, which enables players to join a group of up to 32 characters to trade items and weapons. You can even recruit other players' avatars as AI party members in your offline game!
