Summary

After becoming something of an indie darling back on the last generation of consoles in 2013, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is making its new generation console debut. It's essentially the original game bumped up to 1080p and with a nice smooth frame rate, and given the popularity of its initial release that's no bad thing.

The story, as the title suggests, follows two brothers. Their father is dying, and the only way to save him is to set out on a journey to get an elixer that can cure his illness. As you progress, the relationship between the brothers develops and deepens as they must learn to work together.

Of course, behind this cooperation is you, the player. The game has a unique control system, with each analog stick assigned to a different brother. You'll steer them both as you navigate the game world and solve environmental puzzles, having the pair work together to overcome the obstacles facing them.

It may well be the environment that's the real star of the game, however. Hillsides are strewn with fallen giants, villages are full of frozen inhabitants, boat rides take you through immaculate frozen wildernesses and, throughout the whole thing, your eyes get a happy treat.

At the heart of it all, though, is a story of family and bravery.
