Summary

Mighty No. 9 will be a sweet release for many a gamer. It's the baby of Keiji Inafune, the lead illustrator and designer behind the much-loved Mega Man series. While he's gone on to work on a number of hits such as the Lost Planet and Dead Rising series since, Mega Man holds a special, warm and cosy place in the hearts of many gamers. So, the news that he was producing another sidescrolling action game in the vein of those 8 bit and 16 bit classics was met with plenty of enthusiasm.

The game certainly isn't shy about those roots, either. One glance at the game and you can see that you're playing something from the mind of Mega Man's creator. You play as Beck, the 9th in a line of powerful robots and the only one not infected by a computer virus that's sending mechanised creatures across the world beserk. In the classic Japanese sidescroller style, players will run, jump and blast their way through 12 stages as they try to make the world safe again. The action is fast, furious and bright. As players take down the bosses they'll acquire new abilities, absorbed from their foes, to keep gameplay fresh.

In true old school style, the game is ruthless, too. It will test every ounce of players' skill, then push them further with two special unlockable difficulty levels that ratchet the toughness up even further!
