Summary

The Dark Knight returns. After spending five episodes introducing us to the world of the Caped Crusader in Batman: The Telltale Series season one, the eponymous developer is back to build on the foundations it built and take us deeper into Gotham.

Players of season one (or indeed any other Telltale game) know how this works. While there's definitely a smattering of quicktime-powered action, the game is less about the punches you deliver than the decisions you make. The game is deeply narrative-led, with players interacting with a huge roster of familiar Gotham characters. You control the dialogue and the choices Bruce/Batman must make, and each decision influences the twists and turns the story takes.

This time out a new group of villains has formed an alliance to destroy Batman and, with the Riddler taking centre stage, Bruce Wayne forms an uneasy alliance with former Arkham inmate John Doe. Starting with the Riddler's gruesome puzzles and the arrival of federal agent Amanda Waller, you must enter into a series of dubious pacts and deceptions. Unlike other Batman games, you spend as much time out of the mask as in it, and decisions you make as both Bruce and the Bat will impact the fate of Gotham as you pull in ever closer to its shadowy underworld and the nefarious figures that reside there.
