Summary

Dollhouse is a dark dive into a 1950s noir world of broken memories and creatures that lurk in the shadows.

You play as Marie, a detective trying to unravel her own past. The problem is that memory is a slippery thing, and the game features procedurally generated maps and self-constructing narrative, meaning you can't take anything for granted and must fight for every last shred of memory.

To get to the bottom of the mystery, players must explore different environments, picking up clues, solving puzzles and attempting to put all the pieces together. There's a catch, of course - you're also being hunted by a ghost, and the mannequins that are littered around the world have a nasty habit of coming alive. You can play as different characters, however, and acquire new skills to help you along the way.

This is a game that's big on shadows and atmosphere, and fans of Stephen King should feel right at home.

Alongside the single-player campaign is an intriguing multiplayer mode. It works a bit like Cluedo. One of the players in each match is a killer. The job of the killer is to get away with it, while the job of everyone else is to make sure that doesn't happen.

If you love a mystery livened up by creeping unease, this is one for you. The easily scared need not apply!
