Summary

Victor Vran is very much in the old school vein of dungeon crawling, but with a slick framerate of 60fps and lessons learned from some of the genre's best and brightest, it's definitely one for the serious modern gamer.

You play as the titular Victor Vran, a demon hunter out looking for fellow hunter Adrian in a dark, twisted, alternate 19th century Eastern Europe. It's plagued by all manner of supernatural beast, randing from undead warriors to giant spiders to (of course) vampires and you'll do battle with them using weapons including axes, shotguns and even guitars.

This is an action RPG that's very much in the mould of Diablo III, complete with stat-boosting loot drops and over the top monster death physics. It has a couple of wrinkles that are all its own, though. The challenge system gives areas star ratings, with each star representing a different objective, and each of these offers different loot and experience. There's also the Hex system, which enables you to buff enemies in various ways. That might seem counter-intuitive, but if you succeed in seeing off these buffed enemies you'll be rewarded with, again, extra loot and experience. Between these additions, there's plenty of replayability on offer here.

Included in this Overkill Edition are the Fractured Worlds DLC and Motörhead: Through the Ages, a wild heavy metal romp through the ages starring the loudest band in the world.

To round things out there's also online four-player co-op so you can vanquish your demonic foes in good company!
