Summary

Developer Big Ant is back with the latest in its series of cricket games, building on the success of Ashes Cricket with Cricket 19. It's a fully featured recreation of the international game which packs in men's and women's teams, all the host venues and fully licensed England and Australia teams.

The biggest addition this time out, however, is scenario mode. In it, you can add scorecards to famous matches of the past. You can choose any point in the game, set a condition (England needing 500 runs to win in a day might be one example) then play from there to change history. You could play out the whole game or just a short and sweet 10 minutes to see whether you can snag a wicket in the last over. It's in your hands!

Big Ant is also promising big changes to Cricket 19's artificial intelligence to make the opposition more realistic than ever. When it's bowling, the AI will figure out your team's weaknesses and target them with an appropriate strategy. On the flip side of that, when it's batting the AI will rotate the strike and look for gaps out in the field.

If all that sounds a bit intense for newcomers, don't worry. Big Ant has brought back the catch-all controls of Ashes 19. Bowling, batting and fielding all start with very simple button taps, but you can build in nuance from there.

Cricket 19: The Official Game of the Ashes is essential summer playing for fans of the sport.
