Summary

For the King is part roguelike, part digitised board game and part JRPG (except, you know, not made in Japan).

In it, you form a party (that doesn't behave all that much like a party) sent off to do the queen's bidding for... well, for reasons, OK? Whether that party is made up of you, you and you or you and two other players online is entirely up to you. You'll explore a huge procedurally generated world, scavenging for loot and doing battle against the monsters therein across an hexagonal grid. There's peril at every turn, with dungeons galore and a nighttime that brings its own, special set of monsters.

There's an element of chance to every encounter but chance, of course, can be stacked in your favour by getting your mitts on the right stuff - equipment, herbs, stat boosts, hats). It's worth knowing, however, that while you're adventuring through an abundant world, things are not all that abundant for you personally. Resources are scarce and you'll need to manage them carefully. Your teammates might not even be that much use, given that they can't even share cash unless they're stood next to each other.

Add in to that the fact that 'chaos' is constantly gathering around you, throwing extra obstacles at you unless you keep completing tasks to keep them at bay, and you have a tough time on your hands!
