Summary

It's time to hit the ice again with the latest edition of EA Sports' hard-skating ice hockey series, NHL 20. It comes with the core gameplay that fans know and love tricked out with a raft of changes and tweaks.

The most tangible change when you're neck deep in the action is the inclusion of Signature Shots, powered by RPM Tech, which replicate the real-world shot styles of top NHL players with over 45 new shot animations. Throw in new pick-ups and passing that don't require you to slow down and you've got a faster, more fluid gameplay experience to boot.

The broadcast package has had an overhaul, too. The new package offers new play-by-play commentary. Alongside new scoreboards, overlays and motion graphics, they're designed to put you as close to the action as possible without actually lacing up yourself.

There are new modes in the mix, too. Hockey Ultimate Team brings Squad Battles over from FIFA, with new weekly teams built by athletes, hockey influencers and musical artists to challenge for new rewards. World of CHEL - the recent addition that sees playing the way Canadians do it, on outdoor rinks, frozen ponds or whatever frozen surface they can land their skates on - gets a new mode, too, in the form of Eliminator. It sees 81 players go up against each other in a survival tournament. ONES also gets a new way to play in the form of local multiplayer!
