Jamie MacDonald started his career in the entertainment business at the BBC running various new technology projects across TV and Radio. This initial foray into the media world was followed by an extended period in Italy, Bavaria and the south of France where he managed global software projects for Digital Equipment Corporation, played a lot of Doom and lost whole weekends to Civilisation.
In those far off days that was enough to get into the games industry and on returning to the UK in 1995 Jamie was asked to join Criterion Software to head up their newly-formed games initiative. He grew Criterion Studios into a highly talented and effective team of 45 people and delivered their first 3 games for PC and Dreamcast. He then moved into a broader role in which he was closely involved in the early planning, staffing and R&D for RenderWare.
In 2000 Jamie joined NTL as their Content Director where he was responsible for producing all the output for the NTL digital interactive TV service. Following a helter skelter 18 months in the TV biz he decided to go back to his first love of videogames.
SCEE's London Studio was formed in late 2001 with the amalgamation of the Soho and Camden studios. Jamie joined in December 2001 as its first Director. London Studio is responsible for the massive worldwide hit, The Getaway, as well as the revolutionary and hugely successful EyeToy: Play which was released in July 2003. Further releases in autumn 2003 include SCEE's first network only title, Hardware:Online Arena and the all new This is Football 2004, the latest offering in this award winning football senes.
Jamie is married, lives in Battersea and is looking forward to the birth of his first child in early September 2003.
on May 04th 2010, Jamie Moved to Codemasters under the appointed title of key game development executive in the Senior Vice President Production team. Here Jamie will direct and oversee the business engineering strategy. As well as the Warwickshire Headquarters a further triad of locations includes Birmingham, Guildford and Kuala Lumpur.
Jamie MacDonald has more than a decade and a half of studio management experience and has been involved in the development and franchise of such products as Eyetoy: Play and Singstar. Jamie has also been responsible for the PS3 network services such as SingStore, MySingstar online and Playstation Home.
Jamie MacDonald's first video game work that SPOnG is aware of is the 2000 title, "Deep Fighter" (Dreamcast) as Executive Producer.
