Founded in the early 1990s, Eidos technologies became more than just the proprietary video compression technology company it started out as.

In 1995, Eidos acquired Domark and was listed on the London Stock Exchange. In 1996 CentreGold Group of companies, US Gold and Core Design, becoming the entertainment software publisher we know today.

Eidos plc, consisting of Eidos Interactive, Glassworks and Eidos Technologies, now employs over 500 people with offices in 6 countries around the world.

The Eidos group today includes companies such as Core Design, Crystal Dynamics and has strong links with many other development companies.

Perhaps the most famous of games that Eidos has published is the Tomb Raider series, developed by Core Design.

Eidos's first work that SPOnG is aware of is the 1996 title, "World Cup Golf" (PlayStation).

The company has been involved titles released on the PS4, Xbox One, PC, Wii U, Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, DS/DSi, PS2, Power Mac, PSP, Xbox, GameCube, GBA, N-Gage, PlayStation, Game Boy Color, Dreamcast, Game Boy, Saturn and Mac. Of these, "Tomb Raider II" (PC), "Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines" (PC), "LEGO Star Wars" (PS2), "Tomb Raider" (PC), "Tomb Raider III" (PC) has been a best selling title.

The company's most recent involvement was on the 2017 release "Hitman" (PC).
